necessary evil
: 필요악
something unpleasant that must be accepted to achieve a particular result because the alternative may be worse

ex. High insurance costs are a necessary evil as we grow in size.

회사가 커짐에 따라 높은 보험료는 필요악이다.

Nuclear weapons are a necessary evil.

핵무기는 필요악이다.

Should nuclear weapons be banned? Or are nuclear weapons a necessary evil?

giving something in exchange for something else that has some sort of value

ex. It is matter of quid pro quo.
