refers to a person, thing, or situation that is likely going to cause an accident

ex. I met her by accident on the street, but I was not surprised cuz I felt it was an accident waiting to happen.

길거리에서 우연히 그녀를 만났지만 놀라지 않았어. 어차피 만나게 될거라는 느꼈으니까.

The bubble had to burst, it was an accident waiting to happen.

거품은 터져야만 했어, 그건 어차피 발생할 일이었고.
