There's a time like the waves swirl around.

I can enjoy dancing in a vortex of emotion,
but being sucked into the whirlpool at the end
is not my thing.

Human is no better than a beast
from time to time(maybe quite often),
but at least I know how to discipline myself
from all kinds of danger since I've practiced it
for donkey's years.

funny I already know my hope and power
of execution get the best of it at the end
although that fear paralyses me.

a no-brainer
: (별로 생각을 요하지 않는)쉬운 결정(문제)
something easy that has an obvious solution/answer

ex. Shame on you James, this is a no brainer.

제임스 창피한 줄 알아, 이건 생각할 필요도 없어.

Cutting interest rates was a no brainer.

이자율을 낮추는 것은 어렵지 않다.

Which makes it a no-brainer?

어떤 것이 하기 쉬울까?

To me it's a no brainer.

그건 내게 쉬운 결정이야.

nail (something)
: -을 완벽히 해내다
to do something perfectly

ex. I totally nailed the interview!

나는 모든면에서 면접을 멋지게 해냈어!

She nailed the part and carried the film.

그녀는 그 배역을 완벽히 해냈고 그 영화를 주도했어.

Yeah, we totally nailed the ending.

네, 우리는 완전히 끝을 멋지게 해냈습니다.

Nailed my interview and got hired! This calls for a celebration.

면접 완전히 끝내주게 해내고 취직했어! 이럴땐 축하가 필요하겠지.

 

nail (someone)
: (범인을)잡다, 검거하여 유죄를 밝히다
to catch or bust someone doing something wrong

ex. You don't want to nail him now?

I finally nailed that killer.

나는 마침내 그 살인자를 붙잡았다.

The police haven't been able to nail the killer.

nix
: 퇴짜 놓다, 거부하다, 거절하다, 취소하다
to cancel or stop something

ex. My boss nixed the meeting.

대표가 그 회의를 취소했다.

The idea was, eventually, nixed.

궁극적으로 그 생각은 취소되었다.

The game was nixed.

그 경기는 취소되었다.

 

a no-no
: 해서는 안 되는 것
something that you shouldn't do

ex. Smoking in this cafe is a no-no.

이 카페에서 흡연은 금지다.

Walking on the grass ia a no-no.

잔디를 밟는 것은 금지되어 있다.

Sandals and socks are a big fashion no no.

샌달에 양말은 패션의 큰 금지사항이야.

 

narc on
: 경찰이나 혹은 권위가 있는 자에게 나쁜 행동에 대해 알리다, 밀고하다
to tell the police or other authorities about illegal or bad activities
(*상황에 따라서 -> authorities could be the teachers or parents)

ex. My younger brother narced on me.

내 남동생이 나를 고자질했어.

Did anyone narc on me?

누군가 저를 밀고했나요?

Don't worry, I'm not going to narc on you.

걱정하지 마, 난 널 고자질하지 않을 거야.

 

nit-pick
: (별거 아닌) 트집(흠)을 잡다
to complain about or be too concerned about small problems
*이런 사람들을 nit-picker 라고도함(:

ex. I told you that if you nit pick over that, it'll just give you a headache.

너가 그것에 별거 아닌 트집을 잡으면, 머리아플거라고 말했잖니.

We must talk about it fully, and not just nit-pick.

우리는 그것에 대해 단지 흠을 잡는 것이 아니라, 충분히 얘기해봐야 합니다.

I am sorry to nit pick, but I wanna say cuz it is important to get that matter right.

The naysayers nit pick individual efforts and avoid the big picture.

반대자들은 개인의 노력들은 흠잡으려고 하면서 전체적으로 바라보는 것은 피한다.

ex. If you're a naysayer, you'll get sacked.

no sweat
: (상대방의 감사, 부탁에 대한 대꾸로)뭘 그런 걸 갖고 그래(별 거 아냐/문제없어)
no problem, no worries

ex. A: Thanks for everything

B: Hey, no sweat.

A: 모든 게 다 고마워.

B: 에이, 별거 아냐.

 

a no show
: (오기로 해 놓고)나타나지 않는 사람, (오기로 한 사람이)나타나지 않음
a person who doesn't come to an event/meeting/appointment (and without calling)

ex. Luckily I got a seat on that flight due to a no-show.

다행히도 출발시간까지 안 나타난 예약자가 한 명 있어서 그 비행기를 탈 수가 있었어.

But he was a no-show at work today.

그러나 그는 오늘 직장에 출근하지 않았어.

I was afraid you were a no-show.

나는 너가 안나오면 어쩌나 걱정했어.
